Poetry open mic at the Capel!

Since April 2022, Poetry open mic at the Capel is no longer.

We used to be known as the Fireside Poets and we would meet  on a Friday at the Fireside Cafe, Bargoed, alas we had to find new premises because of new owners.

POETY OPEN MIC AT THE CAPEL IS NO LONGER.

Since July 2014 we became the Capel Poets. Poetry Open mic at the Capel, Bargoed. We meet on the first Monday evening of each month. Created and hosted by me Julie Pritchard. I am a performance and published poet.

We meet at the Capel Hotel, Bargoed, CF81 8LW.

Time Doors open 7pm, mic opens 7 30pm till 10pm.

We are a free event open to all and all are welcome.

We receive no funding just a raffle.

No open mic in January 2020.

Monday February 3rd 2020 joined by Poet Tim Richards who read from his latest collection “Surviverse”

Monday March the 2nd 2020 American poet Emilee Moyce came to read from her pamphlet titled “Macular Degeneratior”

Monday April 6th event was cancelled due to pandemic. I will be launching my 4th collection titled “Between Aurora” and Twilight. We met October 2021 but due to uncertainty regarding covid we cancelled We will be back March 7th 2022

October 7th 2019 a wonderful evening of the spoken word, stories and laughter.

September the 2nd 2019 Playwright and poet Patrick Jones joined us. A great evening, breathing in words and letting them out into a great atmosphere. All in fab working class pub!

Monday April 1st 2019 another wonderful evening of poetry, music and song, such a good vibe. Thought provoking reading from Mair De – Gare Pitt and breathtaking art from Jill Powell. Good to see Jeff Hankin. Thank you for your words, songs, music and ears and a special thanks to Capel barmaid Lisa.

Monday 4th March 2019 was a Welsh themed evening and our guest reader was writer and poet Jeremy Hooker. There was music from Norman, Barry and Simon and wonderful poetry, from our readers, Dr David Williams, Katrina, Gael Humphries, Cliff James, Debbie Price Ceri Creffield, and myself Julie Pritchard. Thank you for the ears of Leighton Smart, Ian Jenkins, Alma, Emily, Eleanor. A big thank you to Lisa the barmaid, Olwen Heenan for the Welsh cakes.
