Poem i wrote for the Anti Open cast poetry event, at The Blast Furnace, Pontlottyn

Open Space

Revealing raw, rigour, ruggedness.

Showing gentle colours

yellow gorse

pink, purple, blue heather.

Browning ferns

Reeds and grasses

which sway to the tune of the wind.

Big skies adore your

wild hash beauty.

Sun rays caress and shadow dance before you.

Dark clouds of industry appear on your horizon.

Casting you aside without your consent,

signatures signed in your name

have gone astray.

Abused, slashed, used, gashed, scarred.

Your gaping soul exposed

marked by machinery.

What remains are tracks of your carbon tears.

The ugly side of nature sometimes progress is cruel
